Originally opened in 1965, Kiev’s Borispol airport went international in 1993 – a gateway to the historic capital of today’s independent Ukraine. Continual growth in passenger numbers and a desire to provide an ultra-modern reception for international guests led to the extensive refurbishment and expansion work that began in 2003. Not only were all the HVAC installations modernised, the latest equipment and technologies were deployed in other areas as well.
Thanks to the experience and efforts of our local partner, with whom we have been active in the Ukrainian market for over a decade, Sauter was chosen to supply the measurement and control systems for the airport buildings. The building management system is based on the EY3600 novaPro, which controls not only the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, hot water and electrical power systems, but also waste-water management, conveyor belts and doors. Additionally, a large pumping station was equipped with its own independent EY3600 novaPro management system.
EY3600 manages the airport
6000 data points in total are being configured in the present project, with automation provided by novaflex EYR 203 and nova106 modular stations. Six novaPro workstations and four routers monitor devices connected via approx. 4.5 km of data cables. There are plans to extend the building management system with a further 25,000 data points in the near future. Construction of a new terminal complex is already underway, which, in addition to the airport terminal itself, will include galleries, a multi-storey car park, and access routes.

Away from the international airport, another major project recently got underway to commission a district heating station for the Europa Plaza building complex planned on Kiev’s Victory Square. The new complex will incorporate a hotel, plus office and residential space. A Sauter novaPro building management system will also be in operation at the Europa Plaza. |
